3. Research areas:

4. Main achievements:
Completed isolation and structural elucidation of the new anthraquinone namely capillasterquinone A from the crinoid Capillaster multiradiatus. This compound exhibited anti-inflammatory effect with IC50 of 5.89 ± 0.11 mM, comparable to that of the positive control, cardamonin (IC50 = 2.59 ± 0.18 mM). In addition, capillasterquinone A inhibits the production of NO through the inhibition of LPS-induced iNOS and COX-2 expressions. This result has been granted Patent No. 29299.
