- Research areas:
- Conduct advanced research and develop modern methodologies for the synthesis of bioactive organic compounds;
- Investigate the extraction process and semi-synthesis of highly bioactive compounds from Vietnam’s natural resources;
- Study and promote the modernization, standardization, technology transfer, and commercialization of traditional remedies and scientific research outcomes;
- Explore fundamental issues in polymer chemistry as a basis for developing new material manufacturing technologies;
- Research, develop, and apply new materials technologies, including recycled and environmentally friendly materials, based on natural, modified, and synthetic polymers;
- Provide consultancy and technology transfer services related to polymer materials and advanced materials for various technical and economic sectors, as well as daily life applications;
- Participate in training and international cooperation in the fields of organic synthesis, polymer materials, and related disciplines;
- Deliver scientific and technological services in relevant fields.
- To carry out fundamental research in macromolecular chemistry for development of new materials technologies;
- To study on establishment and application of new material technologies, recycled materials, environmentally friendly materials based on natural originated polymers, synthetic polymers and chemical modified polymers.
- Main achievements:
- Participated in the successful research and development of Heantos 4, a supportive medication for opioid detoxification approved by the Vietnamese Ministry of Health.
- Developed a production process for a potential anti-tuberculosis production derived from the actinomycete Streptomyces alboniger A121.
- Developed an extraction and purification process for Auronol glucoside, a biologically active production from the leaves of Artocarpus tonkinensis.
- Established a technological process for producing film-coating excipients based on selected synthetic polymers, applied in the formulation of capsules and tablets.
- Developed a modified atmosphere packaging (MAP) technology for preserving Lục Ngạn lychee for domestic consumption and export.
- Developed a technology for producing multilayer polymer films with gas-barrier properties for the preservation of agricultural products and medicinal herbs.
- Developed and mastered the technology for manufacturing biodegradable and environmentally friendly polymer films, applied in the production of consumer products such as biodegradable shopping bags, self-decomposing garbage bags, and food-grade biodegradable packaging.
- Developed and mastered the technology for producing and applying controlled-release fertilizers tailored to the growth cycles of crops, serving sustainable agricultural production.
- Third Prize recipient of the Vietnam Science and Technology Innovation Award (VIFOTEC), 2019.
- Principal investigator of 16 research projects at ministerial level or higher.
- Published approximately 70 international research papers in the past five years in the fields of organic synthesis, natural product chemistry, and polymer science.
- Functional plastic films: Modified atmosphere packaging for postharvest fruit and vegetable storage; UV absorbable greenhouse cover films; hermetic bag for grains and medicine plants.
- Biodegradable and environmental friendly plastic films: shopping bag, nursery pot, mulch film, food container, garbage bag…
- Controlled- release and slow- release fertilizers, anti-caked additive for fertilizers; fertilizer enhancer… in agriculture.
